aphantasia

something that you probably don't know about me is that i have aphantasia. what this means is that i don't visualize ... at all. apart from one isolated experience, i have never seen anything in my minds eye. since i was born, it has always been black.

i understand that my soul chose to perceive reality in this way for a reason, that this attribute is not a burden, but a blessing. i actually didn't even know that other people formed mental images until only a few years ago. its interesting how we sometimes assume that everyone experiences the world in the same way that we do.

this gift allows me to attune more deeply to my other senses, to feel this life more than i think about it. sound, touch, and emotion often translate into insights. because of this, the way i channel is primarily through claircognizance and clairsentience (knowing and feeling). i receive information by being extremely sensitive as i interface with energy, frequency, and vibration.

the mind can be distracting, pictures can be confines. this is not negative or wrong. here is an illustration : if someone without aphantasia were to visualize an apple, for example, they may see a red apple, or maybe a green one. either way, their awareness is then narrowed, in a sense, to one expression of an apple. if i were to imagine an apple, i would feel into the different variations, possibilities, concepts, and energies that are associated with an apple. i would hold it as an idea rather than an image. this is what i mean when i say aphantasia is a gift. i prefer to focus on the opportunities as opposed to the limitation.

that being said, clairvoyance is an equally powerful, beautiful ability, and humanity is able to create so much with the tool of visualization.

another aspect of having a blank minds eye is the connection that i feel with the void, the womb, the infinite source of all that is. because my inner sight is filled with no thing, i am able to tap in to the timeless formless being of god. or source or creator or love or any word that resonates for you, the label does not matter. sometimes this unified/quantum field feels more accessible because there is less distraction in my head and therefore more clarity. although i still get lost in thought at times, as humans do :)

i'd like to end this note with a message for any other souls that chose to feel the world without internal imagery. - there is nothing wrong with this condition. you are not cursed and your third eye is not broken. not being able to see does not mean that you are less, it does not mean that you can't 'manifest' or meditate. you are unique and special and rare. your gifts are many and your light is needed.
