mulberries

  • 1 min read

the mulberries dropped today

so fresh you could eat them off the ground

and i did

bathed in rain

and swollen with juice

they are large and prolific

with a subtle sweetness

that always makes my throat itch

but i indulge anyway

i pick one and

its neighbor falls

right into the bowl

the tree is rich

the kind of fullness

that reveals ten new berries

with each step

that squashes the fruit

and stains my feet

last year there was lack

small and sparse

but now i am blessed

with a gift of abundance

from my beautiful mother

black and shiny with a green stem

and a sort of blood

that mirrors my own

filled with seeds

that promise new life

breathing with the bugs

im lost in the leaves

and there's nowhere else id rather be

i've really been enjoying exploring poetry as a medium lately. let me know what you think and if you would like to read more (i have so many more). love you!

Yes, please do show more! Poetry is one of the best forms of training for experiencing the weight of sensuously real phenomena—such as language—beyond material purposes and definitions, and for learning to handle them in a way that transcends the physical while remaining within a sensory framework.

Despite being old

They barely exist

In my native land.

They grow in my dreams

With green hands and hearts

Fruit black, red and gold.
